You simply take your wax melt and place one or more in your warmer or melter. Then light your tea light or turn on your heat warmer if it is electric. When you are finished using them, you just turn off or remove the heat source and the wax will solidify until you are ready to use it again.

Unlike a candle, the wax in a wax melt doesn’t disappear as you use it. Instead, eventually, the wax melt will lose its scent. When this happens, you will want to remove the wax from the burner to change it over to a fresh new wax melt. The easiest way to do this is to heat up the hard wax for around 30 – 45 seconds and remove with a piece of kitchen roll / tissue as a solid piece.

How do wax melts work ?

Essentially, wax melts are a wick less candle. They’re still made using wax and fragrance oil, the only difference is that you don’t directly light a wax melt. Wax melts are similar to candles in terms of releasing a fragrance or scent when the wax is heated and melted to a high enough temperature.

How to make your wax melts last longer.

There are also a few ways you can make your melts last longer. Storing your wax melts correctly is the first step. Keep your melts sealed and away from sunlight and heat to avoid a loss of scent. Little and often is also a great tip. Wax melts are much smaller than candles and don’t need lots of time to melt and start releasing fragrance. Burn your wax melts for shorter periods and more frequently rather than allowing it to burn for hours on end.
